2021 Summer Portraits for Kids

In all honesty, I am more of a Fall/Winter girl than I am a Summer fan. I like the routine and expectations that come with school and I love being able to find parking at the beach. Ha! But, this year I am doing my best to be flexible and open to all of the random beach days, sidewalk chalk, lowcountry marsh adventures covering all of our floors, and various family visits. It’s going to all happen whether I let myself embrace it or not, so why not have a little fun? (can you tell that I’m still trying to convince myself?!) Ha! ;)

Make it a tradition

One tradition I thought would be great to bring into our summers is to take portraits of my kids. I think we all get so hung up on holiday photos, that we don’t always think about the in between times. My son Emerson is 3.5 years old and Ashton will be celebrating her two year birthday in August. They have changed so much since their photos over Christmas and I want to make sure I remember all of their mannerisms, new freckles, tanlines, and hair styles. I think this will be our new tradition every summer!

To mark the halfway point of the year

So, what do you have planned for your kiddos this summer? Might I suggest one lovely indoor activity…photos of your kids to mark the halfway point of the year. Yes!

I mean, while there are no real schedules and it’s so hot outside, simple and short sessions in the studio sound like a dream to me. Think of it this way, If you count the getting ready, drive over, session time, and post bribery treats then you basically have an air-conditioned morning or afternoon checked right off of the calendar. AND, you get photos in return. You’re welcome. An even better idea, just leave your kids with me in the studio, go and grab a coffee, and call it 30 minutes of alone time. Again, you’re welcome! Ha Ha!! ;)
